From Fear to Trust: How I Found Peace in My Pain

The health paradigm that helped me find peace, purpose, and trust in my body

A Different Way to Look at Health

Dear Health Creator,

Thinking about our health challenges can make us experience feelings of anxiety, confusion, and frustration.

I spent years adding fuel to the fire of my pains. There were times that I would spiral when I was injured or unwell. I spent so much time and energy researching, finding cures, and trying to make the pain or discomfort go away though action. I even identified with every worst case scenario I saw on Dr. Google.

Looking back, I can see how my thoughts made everything worse. Feelings of intense frustration, anxiety, anger, sadness, and more would overwhelm me and magnify my symptoms.

The Moment Everything Shifted

What freed me from those mental loops was a concept that I learned at a prospective students weekend at my chiropractic college. At the time, I was considering becoming a chiropractor but wasn't sure yet.

At that event, they taught me a different way of looking at things. A message of empowerment and hope.

The body heals itself when it is free of interference.

This belief shook me to my core. It resonated with me in a deep way and I felt the truth in it. It was like letting out a breath that I had been holding in for 20 years.

It was a truth I had been waiting to remember. One that completely changed my life and showed me my purpose.

The Old Model: What's Wrong With You?

This is a different paradigm than what is normal in our society. We are told that our ailments, pains, and diseases occur because there is something wrong with us, something missing from us, something invading us, or something in us that must be taken out.

That is true sometimes. But the focus is always on what is wrong with us, rather than what is right with us. We need medical interventions for some things, but the ability of our bodies to heal isn't discussed. The power in the body to restore, repair, and renew itself is never acknowledged.

This perspective is liberating and heavy at the same time.

It is liberating because it has helped me and many other people learn how to trust the body and its ability to heal.

It is heavy because it shows us that we must be responsible for our health, and that no one else can fix us. If we aren't willing to put in the work and do what’s necessary to create health, we won't be healthy.

This means living in a way that creates less interference and supports the creation of health.

Thinking positive is usually not enough to heal us of course, we often need to take action to care for our ailments, injuries, and diseases. But positive thinking helps us recover faster and spiraling into negativity can magnify our symptoms and can even lead to chronic pain. This has been researched and accepted by Western science.

A New Way of Feeling

Trusting that the body will heal itself has saved me from suffering like I used to. Where before, every injury and illness was magnified to the point it felt life threatening, permanent, or disabling, now I can view my health challenges more objectively.

Living in a way that creates health helps us deal with the consequences of past interference and helps to prevent new interference from occurring. Life feels much better physically, mentally, and emotionally when we do this consistently.

This is a topic for another day, but some degree of interference is inevitable as perfection is an impossible standard.

But the way we choose to live has a massive impact on our quality of life. And realizing that your body can be healthier when you are clear of interference feels liberating and empowering.

The paradigm I learned that weekend didn't make all my pain go away. It didn't absolve me of doing what every human needs to do in order to create health. But it gave me so much more.

It gave me a truth I had been unconsciously looking for my whole life. It gave me peace of mind. And it gave me a purpose for my life.

I hope it can do the same for you too.

If this message resonated, hit reply and let me know:
Do you wish it was common knowledge that our bodies heal when free of interference? Does that idea make sense to you and help you feel more confident in your ability to create health for yourself?

Or forward this to someone in your life who’s been struggling with their health.
Sometimes a new perspective is the first step toward a new outcome.
